Domestic violence in the world of sports By: Brady Lattanzi

            Domestic violence is a huge problem people suffer through in being abused or by watching it happen. Especially in sports, lets say you live in Baltimore with not the best situation at home so you look up to football you play for your middle school and look up to the Baltimore Ravens. If you hear that your biggest star ray rice just beat up his girlfriend one of two things can happen one you can think its fine or two get discouraged in football which is your life! Leading that the NFL only suspended hum for TWO games which could easily make you think its fine! Also at home you have no role model to keep you moving on saying its a rare occasion it wont happen again if you and your generation wont let it. Getting us as a community moving in the right path not thinking its fine and doubling the incidents moving us backwards. If it happens we need to know how to deal with it. So it starts with you to move us in the right direction of safety.

Topic: Domestic violence in athletes.
Domestic violence is a huge problem everywhere. It happens all the time and it is unacceptable. It can happen to people anywhere. It can happen to your friends, family or even you. Especially in athletes, the people we think would know better. They should know that domestic violence is a terrible thing. It happened to even the most famous athletes. Athletes like Ray Rice, Kevin Williams, Santonio Holmes and Frostee Rucker all committed domestic violence. Domestic violence is a terrible thing and it should be stopped.
 

         I believe that any type of abuse is just plain wrong. I believe that abusive athletes should lose their jobs. Just because they can tackle people on the field or check people in the rink does not me they can do the same outside of the game. They can have control on the field and in the game, but they can not have control over someone in their life. And for an athletes salary, they're getting way overpaid. All they're doing is playing a sport for people's entertainment when people like doctors and scientists don't get paid nearly as much as an athlete and it gets me mad.

Domestic violence is a very big problem in the world we live in today. First of in the NFL there has been many examples of domestic violence in the past. Washington post. It is just bad to hit a woman when your that strong and tough. if you have to hit a woman your not a man.. in conclusion domestic violence is a very big problem in the world we live in 

A athlete that beats up his girlfriend or wife or even a friend i think that its a big problem and that they should be suspended for beating up someone or something.I think that athletes should be on the news for how good that they did in the superbowl not for beating up there girlfriend i think that domestic violence in sports really needs to stop now.

I honestly don't know anything about sports, but I do know what domestic violence is. I can't give examples, nor do I want to give examples. Domestic violence is maybe in my opinion, one of the stupidest things ever. You can go ahead and judge me our whatever, but seriously tell someone if your boyfriend/girlfriend beats you up regularly. It doesn't really matter if it's "in sports" or not, no matter what it's still really dumb. Sure there are people with strange disorders that somehow associate to them accepting getting beat up or whatever, but what about the rest, what's there excuse. I'm pretty sure this is a strong enough topic to talk about without examples anyway, because there are so many very weird factors. One excuse is "blackmailing", and first of all that person would be doing 2 crimes, maybe even more. Second, what kind of blackmail, murder, money, (and the really stupid one) releasing so & so on the internet. I'm sure no matter the outcome (except death), would be better than being with person any longer.

I feel that domestic violence in the sports world is out of control and that something should be down to stop it. And my opinion on over payed athletes? I think the amount that they're payed is ridiculous, especially compared to the average pay. They should be payed the same amount as everyone else. Honestly I don't understand why they're payed so much, they just entertain people on tv. I feel that they should be payed around the average amount, definitely not whet they're payed now. Now back to domestic violence. I think that players that commit domestic violence should be permanently banned from the NFL or from what ever sport they play. When Ray Rice beat his girlfriend in the elevator the punishment should have been much more severe. I think he should have had much more of a punishment than being fired from th Ravens and suspended from the NFL. He should have had jail time and should not have been allowed near his girlfriend/current wife again.

Domestic Violence

Domestic violence is a big problem, especially in sports. Domestic violence was never this big of a problem. If players want to hurt other people, they should have the same consequences as ordinary (non-famous) people. Domestic violence isn't right, something/someone must've made you so mad that you had to hurt someone else, just to satisfy yourself. If something is building up inside of you, don't take it out on a loved one or someone you really care about. The consequences of domestic violence are serious, and it isn't worth losing everything. Domestic violence is something everyone should be talked about and everyone should be aware of this problem.

My opinion on Domestic Violence

Domestic Violence is a huge deal in all sports right not. From NFL to NBA. These people get millions of dollars every year. They should be teaching kids good things instead of showing up on the news for beating their wife or girlfriend or whoever. This is a big problem and needs to be fixed

                     Domestic violence is a huge problem in the NFL. There were many players who did it, and many fans who followed in their footsteps. NFL players are supposed to set good examples, instead of teaching kids that you can abuse your family/spouse. I feel that professional athletes are way overpaid. Most Athletes in the NFL don't even play in the games, but they make the minimum of 600,000. A surgeon with a phd makes about 315,000. But, it takes 8 years of collage instead of 4.If athletes commit domestic violence,they should be released from their contract immediately, ad be banned from the NFL for 2 years. Dez Bryant was an NFL player tat pushed his mother and fought with his half brother. AS a result, he was picked further down in the draft.

Domestic violence in sports is a issue that really shouldn't have to be a thing we talk about.  I just think that we should treat these athletes like regular people if they want to hurt people they should be charged,fined jail anything but we should not take these incidents lightly. This has to be stopped we cant keep petting these over paid men and women do whatever they want and hurt whoever they want. I think the power has gone to there head with all the money we give them they think they can do whatever they want. just because they can. We have enough problems in this world without these Athletes coming in and assaulting there girlfriends and boyfriends and family in general they have no reason too either. All I know is we need this to stop, laws need to be enforced.

                                              Honestly I don’t believe athletes deserve the money they are being paid. On average professional athletes are being paid 3.15 million dollars per year, when people with an advanced degree are only getting 72,824 dollars per year. These people work really hard on their education to get degrees like that i'm not saying professional athletes don’t try as hard but all they have to do is be good at a sports. I believe a professional athlete's salary should be between 90,000 - 1,000,000 dollars per year.

Right now I don’t like the under punishment athletes are getting for domestic violence, for example Adrian Peterson was accused of beating his 4 year old son with a stick. In the trial he agreed with a plea bargain, the bargain is a fine of 4,000 dollars and community service, I mean are kidding me he should be in a lot more trouble than that you can't take away this child's traumatic experience with a fine he will never feel safe around his father again. They also suspended him for 2 weeks but I still don't think that's enough.

Domestic violence can happen anywhere and anytime. I have seen it the most probably in the NFL. Domestic violence is when the male does anything to abuse the female in the relationship. As a lot of people know, there was a guy named Ray Rice who was a former running back, one of the best. He was on the Baltimore Ravens and everyone loved him. Then one day everything changed his life. He and his girlfriend were in a fight in a elevator. He knocked her out in the elevator and it was caught on video tape. Domestic violence is a terrible event that not only happens here in the United States but around the world. It needs to stop. It impacts not only the people that are hurt by the violence but everybody around the violence. Lately, there has been a lot of focus on professional athletes abusing their spouses. Some examples of professional athletes that have abused people are Chad Johnson, Ray Rice, Mike Tyson, Floyd Mayweather and most famously O.J. Simpson. Some of the athletes got suspended from their profession like Ray Rice but others, like Chad Johnson got arrested. It was only for three days. Furthermore, O.J. Simpson's trial is called "The Trial of the Century" and was found evidence because there was little evidence saying he did it. These athletes should have been punished more. It is extremely crude and disrespectful to abuse others. Their punishments should have been extended. They should not only be punished within their profession but, punished legally. Just because they are athletes does not mean that they should be punished less than the average citizen. They should be given zero respect because of their actions towards others.

My opinions on domestic violence with sports players

People who are associated with charges of domestic violence should be fired from their job as a sports player. Sports players are VERY famous. If you say the name “Tom Brady” most people will know who he is. These all stars leave impacts on people, good and bad. Imagine you have a 10 year old child. He loves football. He sees “Greg Hardy” on the news for abusing his ex-girlfriend (this happened in 2014). He may think that since that person is famous, what they did is right or doesn't matter. On the other hand you have an 8 year old daughter. She hears the same thing on the news. She doesn't love sports, but she also has nothing against them. She hears what Greg did and is scared. She doesn't know if all men are like this, or if it's normal. Seeing these “role models” abusing women, children, men, anybody for that matter is scary. It can scar a child, or make them believe that what they did isn't a big deal. Many sports players are left off the hook due to their occupation and how much money they make. There are doctors who save lives that don't earn as much as sports players. The president of the United States of America doesn't earn as much money as these sports players. The soldiers who RISK THEIR LIVES everyday protecting OUR COUNTRY don't make as much as them. And some of them commit crimes. Criminals are earning millions of dollars because they didn't go to jail for what they did. If sports players abuse, they should be put in jail, or get permanent suspension from their jobs. They don't deserve the money they make and should feel sick for not serving time in prison. Stop domestic violence and abuse.

Domestic Violence/ Athletics

   Domestic violence is violent or aggressive behavior, typically involving the violent abuse of a spouse or a partner. But in this situation athletes are abusing people/partners. Usually NFL players abuse there wives but domestic violence can happen in any sport. It can also be a girl athlete abusing her husband but it is usually the opposite. A lot of athletes get charged, indicted, or arrested for abusing there partner.  I think that when athletes abuse people/partners the law should be more strict then they are because they are professional sport stars. What I mean by being more strict is that they shouldn't be just getting charged they should also get a worse punishments.

These are some examples of NFL athletes that abuse people or there partners-

  -In 2016-02-05 Montee Ball was charged from Domestic violence because he was accused of disorderly conduct and battery after allegedly striking his girlfriend in the face.

- In 2016-01-30 Johnny Manziel was indicted from domestic violence because his former girlfriend accused him of striking her after  leaving a bar in Dallas.grand injury indicted him on misdemeanor charge in April 2016.

- In 2015-07-20 Justin Cox was Arrested  because he was accused of domestic violence, trespassing and burglary in Mississippi.

Domestic Violence/ Athletes,

Domestic violence in  some athletes are bad because they could be your idol. they get a suspension but the NFL players should get a fine of money. the NBA players should get the same punishment. One player is Greg hardy he is on the Dallas cowboys. Greg hard assaulted his ex girlfriend. sometimes the person NFL player or other player assault somebody they to not do good when they come back to the sport.  the picture right below is the players in the NFL with sexual or physical assault.
